Greetings from Bequia!!!!
Here is a short update on our expereience thus far on the beautiful island of Bequia. On Saturday we settled in to our new digs in Friendship Bay, Bequia. We are staying in an AWESOME 5 bedroom house, where there is plenty of room for us to have camp planning meetings, do yoga, have evening discussions, dine on delicious food, have sing alongs, blend endless mochachinos (thanks to our Barista-in-residence, Ari WeinsTIME) and have impromtu activities and games. We are staying just a short walk from Lower Bay (the nicest beach on Bequia) and have spent a good deal of time snorkeling, body surfing and relaxing on the white sandy shore; and we even had an opportunity to witness the natural wonder that is bioluminescence during the evening. We spent most of the day on Sunday cooking a mean breakfast of chocolate chunk pancakes (headed up by the males in the group) and then planning camp for the upcoming week! The evening was extra special - a delcious Roti and fruit juice dinner at Mangoes, then Kate's Circle of Love activity.
Monday was an amazing success at our new camp! Students (all from the local summer school) were engaged and excited about all classes and activities. Tuesday and Wednesday at camp we worked with a different set of students - members of an outreach program called "Children Against Poverty." These students had some challenging behavioral/ social adjustment problems and some learning disabilities....but nothing our students couldn't handle. Our Bridge students were complete ROCKSTARS both days, keeping the kids well behaved and positive about their camp experience. Wednesday brought one additional challenge when it began to DOWNPOUR in the middle of the day. Everyone really thought on thier feet, and pulled off a wonderfully random "talent show" activity, that kept students smiling and enjoying the day, despite the rain!
Thursday was our last day at camp (we were back with the summer school children) and it went soooo smooth. Some highlights include: Kites with Seth and Kyla, Improv games with Zippo, Baseball with Aly, Satch and Aidan, "Challenge Alex and Kayla," Games with Libby, and Masks with Ellen and Kaya. Ari (our BLING BLING leader of the day) was the emcee for today's all-camp fashion show, where the Purple team (led by Kayla) came out victorious! We spent the afternoon shopping for souveniers and found some really cool stuff. Friday and Saturday we will surely be celebrating, as a tribute to everyone's efforts and contributions to our Bequia camp.
Aside from camp, its really been a spectacular week for the group. We are accomplishing tasks like a well-oiled fry-a'later!! Friday we are going on the FRIENDSHIP ROSE SCHOONER journey, we can't wait!!!!!!!!!

Mail to the Caribbean often takes 2-3 weeks if sent by regular post. If you would like one of the students to receive mail from you during the trip, we recommend sending it the first few days of the trip or using an expedited carrier (such as FedEx or DHL).
The last day for mail pick up will be July 25, please make sure your mail will arrive before then to ensure delivery.

Meet Your Leaders!
Kate Berge
Kate believes that there are no two things that go better together than travel and education, and can be seen spanning the globe, looking for opportunities that allow her to combine these two passions. Kate's experience includes working for Semester at Sea, a "floating university" study abroad program where she planned programs and events for college students aboard the 800-person passenger ship. She also led in-country excursions including a Habitat for Humanity program in South Africa, a homestay trip in India, and a volcano hike (where she roasted marshmallows over active lava!) in Guatemala. Kate holds a Masters in Science from Northeastern University in Applied Education Psychology and a Bachelor's in Psychology from Ithaca College. Kate currently works for the Houston, TX school district's Outdoor Education Center where she teaches science and history classes to groups of 5th graders. She is quite excited for her next great adventure.... BRIDGE CARIBBEAN 2010! This will be Kate's fifth (!) summer with Windsor Mountain and she could not be happier about heading to the Islands with Adam, Max, and a group of awesome students! This will truly be another epic summer of saltfish, breadfruit, and more! (Leaders in Training '06, Bridge Hawaii '07 and '08, Bridge Caribbean '09).
Adam Aronovitz
Adam has committed himself to education both in and out of the classroom. He currently lives in Boston and teaches 6th grade math and leads an Outdoor Education program at the Mario Umana Middle School Academy in East Boston. He absolutely loves to travel and could not be more excited about being a co-leader on the Bridge Caribbean expedition for the third time. He has traveled extensively across the globe and likes nothing more than truly soaking up the culture in various countries and interacting with the local population. Adam earned his undergraduate degree from Tulane University in New Orleans in the field of International Political Economics and earned his master's degree at London's University of Westminster in International Relations. When Adam is not teaching or traveling or continuing his own education, you can find him participating in any out-of-doors activities from sailing to scuba diving and skiing to backpacking. To replenish his reserves for his high-energy lifestyle, Adam enjoys frequenting the many ethnic eateries in the Boston area, especially the fine establishments in Chinatown. (Bridge Puerto Rico '06, Bridge Mexico '07, Bridge Caribbean '08, '09).
Max Mor
After yet another year of bouncing around the planet, Max is so excited to return to Windsor Mountain, and even more excited to be joining the Travel Staff this summer! He is an aspiring cook, frequent guitarist, and firm believer in the power of peanut butter (for both good and evil...). Max can't wait to lead his former LIT's and the newcomers to Windsor Mountain on an exciting journey (that he himself took not too long ago) to the beautiful Grenadines! He's already beginning to dream about reggae vibes, grilled barracuda, and the Island way of life....
